The differences in our personalities are often the cause of unhappiness in life and distress in relationships. We need to understand ourselves and also our parents, our teachers, our bosses, our employees, our neighbours and everyone who comes into our lives. When we understand people we can accept and like them.
Long ago, people were compared to the elements of the earth; fire, water, earth, air. People said, “He has a fiery personality, or he’s as weak as water, or she is a down to earth person or she’s all airy fairy.”
Today there are psychologists trying to sort people into categories. Of course no-one fits a category exactly as we are all different. Some have sorted up to 16 categories but we have found that people can’t easily use that complexity of information at the time they need it.
As a result, we use four categories, of which people are a blend of each category. Find out your basic type and your own blends.
