Many reading tests have been devised. This one uses lists of words that become more difficult throughout the test. It does test comprehension as well.
Correct pronunciation is essential and our teacher will stop your child as soon as a level is reached that is considered “Not competent”
We have equated the levels to ages so that you will receive an age level. This is because children start school at different ages and may therefore be in different year levels at the same age. If you child is younger than the age level given then your child is an advanced reader. If your child is older than the test age shows, then they are behind expectations and you may wish to get help.
We want to give you the fairest and most careful results so that you have true information to act upon. Our teacher will tell you what errors the child is making at the “Not competent” level so that you can help your child at home if you wish, or give a tutor an exact list of what you require.
